This cut of beef is a tender and lean cut that is ideal for pressure cooking. Not only that, but sirloin steaks are more affordable cuts of meat than a ribeye steak, for example.
An instant pot steak recipe is the best because of a low cooking time (compared to a slow cooker) and very little effort to throw together. This makes it a great recipe for a busy weeknight!
These instant pot recipes use simple ingredients you can easily find at your grocery store.
Tips for Cooking Sirloin Steak Recipes In An Instant Pot
- For best results try searing your steaks before pressure cooking them. After patting the steak dry and adding some seasoning, add a little olive oil to the bottom of the pot and use the saute setting to brown each side of the steak (1-2 minutes per side). This will seal all those juices inside and leave you with a better texture on your steak!
- Add your liquid (cup of water, red wine, cup of beef broth etc – whatever the recipe card calls for) to the bottom of the pot and scrape up the browned bits. The brown bits are packed with flavor and will take your steak to the next level!
- Place your steaks on a trivet inside the bottom of the instant pot so they aren’t sitting in the liquid.
- The cook time will depend on the level of doneness you are going for so use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. Rare steak – 130 to 135 degrees Fahrenheit. Medium rare steak – 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Medium steak – 155 to 160 degrees Fahrenheit. Well done steak – 165 to 170 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Use oven mitts when handling the inner pot and the valve – it’s hot!
- Allow the steak to rest for 5 minutes before cutting into them. This will allow the juices to redistribute and will give you the juiciest steak!
