Tips for Cooking Potatoes in the Instant Pot
While pressure cooking potatoes can be the easiest recipe to make, here are a couple of tips to help you get the BEST results in a couple of minutes:
- Each recipe is different so read the full recipe card carefully. If the recipe calls for a quick release – do a quick release! If it calls for a natural pressure release – do that! These recipes are tried and true so trust the process.
- Make sure your instant pot is big enough for the recipe. Most recipes will use a 6 quart instant pot, but be sure to check! You don’t want to overload your pressure cooker.
- For evenly cooked potatoes, make sure the size of your potatoes is uniform. No one wants under-cooked potatoes!
- Add at least one cup of water to the instant pot (or more cups of water or chicken broth if the recipe calls for it!). Instant Pot recipes require water for the pot to come to pressure and cook!
- Be sure your pot is in the sealing position or it will not come to pressure. Check your user manual to become familiar with how your pressure cooker works!
