TIPS FOR MAKING THE BEST PELLET GRILL STEAKS
A steak off of your smoker when well executed, will flavor the socks off of any other steak out there. Follow the tips below for the most delicious steaks of your life.
- Freshness. First thing is to check for freshness. Freshness of the meat should be a top priority! For optimal flavor buy the steak the fresh the same day you’ll be grilling! High quality meat will make all the difference in making the PERFECT steak!
- Marbling. Look for steaks that are well marbled with fat (ask your local butcher for tips!). Those ribbons of fat will dissolve during the slow cook and moisten the meat from the inside.
- Prep Your Steak. For best results, before grilling, leave enough time to allow your steaks to come to room temperature. Having your steaks start out at room temperature means more even cooking throughout.
- Add Seasoning. These recipes will share some delicious steak seasoning options! First pat your steak dry with a paper towel, rub a little olive oil and your dry rub on the surface of the steak (when in doubt, onion powder, garlic powder, kosher salt and black pepper always does the trick!) Always add a little more seasoning than you think you will need.
- Cook Steak! After your fire up your grill, leave it on smoke and give your steaks 25-30 minutes (at least 15 minutes) to really take on some delicious flavor. This will take your steak to the next level! Cooking time will vary depending on the level of doneness you prefer. Check each steak recipe for tips! After your steaks have smoked, remove them from the grill. Crank your temperature up to high heat and let your grill grates preheat for 10-15 minutes. You want your grill to be running at the highest possible temperature. Return the steaks to the hot grill and cook to get those grill marks and until you reach the perfect internal temperature you prefer.
- Let it Rest! You will want to let your steak rest for at LEAST 2-3 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute through the meat resulting in a juicy piece of meat you’ll drool over,
