Twisted Cheese Breadsticks are cheesy breadsticks made simply with puff pastry dough instead of pizza dough.

No need for active dry yeast (or instant yeast), hoping the warm water isn’t too warm searching for frothy yeast bubbles, a Kitchenaid mixer with a dough hook, rolling pin, plastic wrap, or extra time for the dough rise to get these amazing cheesy bread twists.
But since you still did most of the work you can call it homemade bread to impress anyone and everyone!

Ingredients used to make Twisted Cheese Breadsticks:
- Frozen puff pastry
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Garlic salt
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
How to make Twisted Cheese Breadsticks:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Allow dough to thaw on a lightly floured surface (you’ll know it’s thawed enough when you can unfold it).
- Unfold each sheet and lay it flat in a large rectangle. Brush with olive oil with a pastry brush, and sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic salt.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of cheese over each sheet, pressing it down firmly into the dough with your fingers.
- Cut each sheet into 1″ strips (there will be about 6 strips from each sheet) with a pizza cutter or pastry cutter.
- Twist each strip and set it on parchment paper lined cookie sheets (or a greased baking sheet will do).
- Bake the dough twists in a preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and breadsticks start to turn a light golden brown.
How to store cheesy breadsticks:
Place the leftovers from this breadsticks recipe in an airtight container after they have cooled down to room temperature. Enjoy them the next day or up to 3 days later.

While this is such a great recipe, without all the mixing of all-purpose flour, to create bread dough, you can create your favorite flavor for this bread recipe.
- Add Italian seasoning
- Change cheese with a mix of parmesan cheese, cheddar cheese, or asiago to create your favorite cheese mixture.
- Sprinkle them with sesame seeds.
- Use melted butter instead of olive oil.
- Brush with marinara sauce.
- Use garlic powder instead of garlic salt.
