Our family is obsessed with barbecues and grilling. Food tastes so much better when it’s grilled!
So when we tried these Honey Cinnamon Grilled Peaches, we knew they would become a barbecue regular. They are so easy to make, and seriously taste like a dessert . . . but healthy!
How to Grill Peaches
Grilled Peaches are so easy to make. If you don’t have a grill, don’t panic, you can also use a skillet or pan to make this recipe.
We prefer using a grill because it adds an amazing flavor.
Step 1: Wash and rub your peaches. It’s important to wash your fruit to avoid illness and germs. Fruits have come along way and a lot of people have touched them before they have reached you, so it’s important to wash them.
As you wash your peaches, really rub your hands over the peach skin to rub off some of the peach fuzz. I have also heard people using a new and clean toothbrush to brush off peach fuzz. I don’t really have time for that so I usually just rub the peach roughly with my thumb.
Step 2: Slice your peaches in half and remove the pit. I usually remove it with just my fingers, but you could also use a spoon. You can also cut out the center pink part, of the peach. I usually keep mine, because I don’t mind it, but I know some people can’t handle the texture very well.
Step 3: Over each peach half, drizzle 1/2 Tablespoon of honey over each one. You can kind of spread the honey around with the back of a spoon to evenly spread it.
Step 4: Sprinkle your cinnamon and brown sugar over the peach halves.
Step 5: Place the flavored peach halves on the grill, flat side down. Let it grill on Medium High heat for about 4-5 minutes or until the peach gets a deep orange color and the brown sugar and honey have begun to crystallize.
Step 6: Serve warm. You can add more honey and brown sugar to garnish.
How to pick a peach that’s ripe
Peaches can be difficult when it comes to picking the perfectly ripe ones. One thing I have learned to look for is a soft firmness. You don’t want to have your finger poke right into the peach but you do want it to be a little squishy.
If you really have to pinch hard to get it to press in, that probably means it’s not ripe yet. You don’t want them crispy, you want them soft and a little squishy.
You will also want to avoid peaches that have wrinkles on them. Wrinkles mean they have passed the perfectly ripe stage and are now beginning to go bad. These will be hard to grill and will have a more bitter taste.
You will also want to avoid soft spots or “bruises” on the peach. The peach will be extra squishy in that area and chances are they have been a little exposed and may begin rotting.
How to sweeten your grilled Peaches
I love making grilled peaches a dessert by spicing it up a little. One of my favorite things to add to it is vanilla bean ice cream. If you do decide to put ice cream on, be sure to place the scoop on top right as the peach get’s off the grill.
This will allow the ice cream to absorb into the hot peach. It will taste like a peaches and cream flavor.
You could also add a little-whipped cream and top it with extra honey and cinnamon or brown sugar.
