I don’t know about you, but I feel like salads are always better when someone else prepares them. I have the hardest time eating salad at home sometimes, but when I got to restaurants or parties and potlucks, I am all about that salad!
That was until I made this Pear and Blue Cheese Salad. My husband loves pears, so I thought I would throw together a quick, easy salad to go with our dinner.
I have only had blue cheese a handful of times because I feel like it can over power a dish, but this green salad has the perfect amount of blue cheese that pairs perfectly with red onion and pears.
When it comes to salad, the dressing can make or break it. I love making my own homemade dressings because then I know exactly what ingredients are in it.
This homemade dressing is tangy, sweet and goes perfectly with this spring salad.
This might just be the best homemade green salad I’ve ever made!
How to make Pear and Blue Cheese Salad with Homemade Dressing:
All you need is 10 minutes to make this easy salad recipe.
In a large mixing or serving bowl, combine spring salad mix, red onion, diced pear, candied pecans and blue cheese crumbles.
You can adjust the amounts of the different ingredients to fit your taste.
Add maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, mayonnaise, brown sugar, salt, pepper and olive oil to a blender and blend for 1-2 minutes or until smooth.
If you are serving your salad immediately, pour dressing over salad and toss until well incorporated.
If you prepared your salad ahead of time, pour dressing into a container or bottle and store in the refrigerator.
If you dress the salad too long before serving it will be soggy. You can also serve the dressing on the side and let everyone dress their own salad.
How to Store Homemade Salad Dressing:
The shelf life of salad dressings can vary quite a bit. Dressings that are dairy-based with fresh ingredients like buttermilk and fresh herbs will keep for up to 1 week.
Vinaigrettes can be kept refrigerated for up to 2 weeks. We recommend storing this dressing in the refrigerator in an airtight container and using within 2 weeks.
