Need some ideas to start a conversation with your family? We put together 50 of our best conversation starters!
Growing up, our mom was a rock star at making sure we had dinner together every night.
It got crazy with 6 kids around the dinner table when we were growing up, but some of our best memories were made there and it’s the best thing we could have done together.
We truly believe that having dinner together as a family helped shape us into the people we are today.
We had a few family dinner rules:
- no phones at the table (we also turned off our landline back in the day so that we weren’t interrupted)
- you had to try at least one bite of everything
- if you didn’t like what was being served for dinner, breakfast was in the morning
We would use that time at dinner to talk about our days and things that were going on in our lives.
Dinner time was the perfect time to connect with meaningful conversation.
With work, school and all of the other activities families have going on, dinner time is often the only time they have quality time together to communicate.
After a long day, you may find your family doesn’t have much to say at the dinner table.
