You might not have heard of this original recipe Bob Clark Casserole dish before, but it is very similar to a shepherd pie type casserole as it has a delicious tomato and meat layer paired with green beans, mashed potatoes, and of course a cheesy topping.
What is great is that you can prepare this dish in your Dutch oven or oven-safe large skillet and either refrigerate it until you are ready or stick it right in the oven to bake right away.
After having it once, you will be looking for a good reason to have this comfort food served with your favorite side dish recipe and of course dinner rolls.

Ingredients used to make this Bob Clark Casserole:
- Ground beef
- Onion diced
- Green bell pepper diced
- Tomato sauce
- Seasoning salt
- Cumin
- Garlic salt
- Chili powder
- BBQ Sauce
- Salt
- Black pepper
- French cut green beans drained
- Mashed potatoes (instant potatoes made or homemade potatoes will work!)
- Shredded cheddar cheese
How to make this Bob Clark Casserole:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Brown ground beef, onion and green pepper over medium heat until meat is cooked through. Drain excess grease.
- Add tomato sauce, seasoning salt, cumin, garlic salt, chili powder, BBQ sauce, salt and pepper to the beef mixture. Heat through and set aside.
- In a 9 x 13 inch baking dish, spread meat mixture, then add the green beans on top of the meat mixture. Top with mashed potatoes and sprinkle on cheese.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
Type of beans to use:
When you are preparing this dish, think about keeping it simple. You will use the same green beans that you would use for the classic green bean casserole you made at Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner.
The canned kind of beans will work better when you need to have dinner done quickly, instead of using fresh green beans that you will need to cook ahead of time to make sure they are tender enough.
How to store this great recipe:
Place any leftovers of this ground beef casserole in an airtight container or the container it was cooked in and store it in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.

Bob Clark Casserole Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- ⅓ onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
