These are a hit at every holiday party.
the story behind the cookie
In honor of the release of our newest cookbook, 12 Days of Christmas with Six Sisters’ Stuff, we hosted a recipe contest to find YOUR favorite holiday recipes.
After a lot of baking, cooking and sampling we have chosen 12 of our reader’s favorite recipes. Thanks to everyone who participated.
Today we are featuring Grandma’s Butterscotch Cookies from Kathleen Clegg of Idaho. These cookies are her husband’s grandmother’s recipe and her husband’s favorite cookie.
His grandma used to make the cookies for them when they would go to their house to visit. They all looked forward to them. She was an amazing cook, but these cookies always felt like love.
They are a little bit time consuming, so now Kathleen makes them as a special treat for the holidays.
They always bring a smile to their faces, thinking about what a beautiful, generous and loving lady grandma she was, always. A wonderful example to look up to.
could i use cold milk from the fridge for this recipe?
You could use cold milk from the fridge, however, we don’t really recommend it.
The canned milk, and the half and half, have an extremely thick texture. It will make the cookie dough more creamy.
You could also use coconut milk, but we prefer the half and half for the best results.
If you do have to use milk, we recommend using 2% or vitamin D milk.
