I am loving all of the steak recipes right now! Whenever I eat steak, it brings back so many memories of my Dad grilling on a hot summer day.
As sad as it is, we don’t have a grill right now, so I find ways to cook my steak other ways beside the grill. If you love steak, you are going to love these Steak and Cheddar Taquitos.
They are so easy to throw together and only require a few simple ingredients.
My husband and kids love these, and it’s also a great recipe to sneak some extra veggies into (you just have to cut them up small enough, but at this point, it’s worth it to me).
what is the best way to cook the steak for these?
For this recipe, I recommend cooking the steak over the grill. I prefer grilled steak, but you could also pan fry it, broil it, or use a George Foreman grill.
When we make these in the winter and it’s too cold to grill, I will usually broil the steak on high for 2 minutes on each side. They are perfect every time.
make other flavors:
If you do have picky eaters that don’t love onions and peppers, you can also make this recipe using other meats and vegetables.
It’s like mini pizza, but better because it is in taquito form. You could add any of your favorite pizza toppings, or even add your favorite toppings to the already delicious, Philly Cheesesteak Stromboli.
It’s fast, quick, simple and delicious. Here are a few of our favorites to add:
- sausage
- pepperonis
- bacon
- banana peppers
- olives
- jalapeños (my husband adds these for a little kick)
- red onion
- cilantro
- mushrooms
- artichokes
Really any favorite pizza topping would be delicious in these. They are pretty versatile, and it’s a fun recipe to get the kids involved with.
We also find they are more likely to eat it, if they get to help make it, because they are proud of their work.
