Soft, chewy sugar cookies topped with buttercream, toasted coconut, candy and chocolate covered pretzels.
These Reindeer Sugar Cookies are sure to be a hit at your next holiday party or gathering. The kids will love decorating these (and the adults) and they are so cute.
They are great for party favors, activities, and dessert. You can’t go wrong with these cookies.
what could I use in place of the coconut?
The coconut shreds on these cookies, are fun, because it makes it look like reindeer fur. However, if you are not a coconut fan, you may not fully enjoy these cookie, to their full potential.
These Reindeer Sugar Cookies, would also taste delicious with just some brown frosting on them. I personally prefer chocolate frosting, but you could also mix some food color, to get brown.
If you are looking for a chocolate frosting recipe, you came to the right place. You have to try our Chocolate Buttercream Frosting.
It is what dreams are made of. It is rich, creamy, thick, and of course, chocolatey.
It would taste absolutely amazing with these cookies.
the perfect holiday drinks to serve with cookies:
Don’t get me wrong, I love cookies and milk, but there are a few holiday drinks, that only come around this time of year, so you have to take advantage of them.
Here are a few of our favorite holiday beverages to drink with our favorite cookies. They are all alcohol free, and kid friendly, so everyone can enjoy the holidays.
Red Velvet Hot Chocolate: Just when red velvet couldn’t get any tastier, we turned it into hot chocolate, and you are going to love it. It is so creamy, and I love dipping cookies or brownies in it.
Instant Pot Apple Cider: You haven’t had apple cider until you try instant pot apple cider. This will blow you away. It tastes like Christmas in a cup.
Cranberry Citrus Party Punch: This is the BEST holiday punch recipe. It is so light and refreshing, and full of delicious cranberry flavor. You need to try this recipe.
Nutella Hot Chocolate: If you are anything like me, you like the rich with the rich. I don’t care what anyone says, there is no such thing as too much chocolate, and this hot cocoa, and the cookies, complement each other, perfectly.

Reindeer Sugar Cookies Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup margarine, or butter, softened
- 1¼ cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup sour cream
- 4 cups flour
- vanilla frosting, (I USED THIS RECIPE )
- chocolate covered pretzels, cut in half
- chocolate chips
- red hot candies
- 2 cups toasted coconut, COARSELY CHOPPED
Instructions
- MIX MARGARINE (OR BUTTER), EGGS, AND SUGAR UNTIL WELL COMBINED.
- ADD BAKING POWDER, VANILLA, BAKING SODA, SALT, AND SOUR CREAM AND MIX WELL.
- ADD FLOUR AND GENTLY COMBINE. IF TOO STICKY, ADD JUST A LITTLE MORE FLOUR AND REFRIGERATE FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES.
- ROLL OUT DOUGH ON A FLOURED SURFACE AND CUT WITH A CIRCLE COOKIE CUTTER (I USED A 2 3/4 IN DIAMETER CIRCLE COOKIE CUTTER).
- BAKE AT 350 DEGREES FOR ABOUT 9 MINUTES, MAKING SURE TO NOT OVERCOOK THEM.
- ONCE COOLED, SPREAD ON VANILLA FROSTING AND PLACE HALVED PRETZELS ON TOP FOR ANTLERS, CHOCOLATE CHIPS FOR EYES AND A RED HOT FOR A NOSE.
- SPRINKLE TOASTED COCONUT ON REMAINING EXPOSED FROSTING.
Notes
-
YOU CAN USE BUTTER, BUT THE MARGARINE MAKES THEM MORE SOFT AND FLUFFY. THE BUTTER TENDS TO MAKE A FLATTER COOKIE.
