Pat chicken pieces dry with a paper towel. Spray the air fryer insert with non-stick cooking spray.
Place the flour, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and salt into a resealable plastic bag and shake to mix. Make sure your chicken wings are completely dry (this will keep them from getting soggy) and add the chicken wings to the bag. Seal the bag and toss until well coated with the flour mixture.
Whisk together the melted butter and hot sauce in a small bowl. Dip the wings into the butter mixture and place in the bottom of the air fryer.
Set air fryer to 400℉ (preheat for a few minutes if needed) and then set timer for 12 minutes.
After 12 minutes, use tongs to flip chicken wings over and baste with additional hot sauce for extra flavor.
Set air fryer timer again for 12 minutes.
Carefully remove chicken wings from air fryer and enjoy! We love to dip these in ranch dressing, but they are great as is.
Notes
If you want the skin of your chicken wings to be even more crispy, stick them in the freezer for about 20 minutes after they are coated with the flour mixture.
Be sure to watch your chicken - sometimes it might take more time and sometimes it might take less time to cook. It isn’t going to hurt your chicken to open it up and check! Check the last few minutes to make sure it is not going to burn.
We have also substituted buffalo sauce for the hot sauce, and they were equally as delicious!
